Alec Joseph Rivera (8layer Technologies)
Alec Joseph Rivera, a native of Pampanga, is a happily married IT enthusiast and a father to one, whom he hopes will follow his hacker-like footsteps. He have been heavily involved with computers since the '90s, a time when metaphorical dinosaurs still roamed the IT landscape.
He became interested with computers when he discovered they can be programmed, starting out with GW-Basic then gradually degenerating in assembly language. At that early age, he was also already interested in sharing and teaching such knowledge to his fellow students. None were really interested, though, except on games maybe. But he's glad to inform you that he's glad he's been able to follow up that childhood dream of sharing with groups of similar interests and like-minded individuals.
Now working in 8Layer Technologies, Inc, where fun is necessarily part of the equation, he is primarily involved in creating web applications, but he also involves himself with OS hacking when time permits.
You can send him email at agi@kahelos.org or eijhei@gmail.com. You can chat him up on YM!, his sign name is agirivera. He also frequents at #kahelos@irc.freenode.net. He loves to talk about computing history and future direction, some philosophical truths but in form of jokes and anything free/libre/open source. - Adventures in the Age of Frameworks
Vedasto Rey Portugal (8layer Technologies)
When do I use a framework? How do I know which one to choose? I want to build my own framework, have I totally lost my mind?
Veteran business solutions wrangler, Vedasto Rey Portugal offers answers to these often debated, seldom resolved questions surrounding PHP frameworks. As principal architect of 8layer Technologies' enterprise solutions, he spends his days (and nights) applying his decade-long software and organizational development experience taming wild business rules, shooting down operational conundrums, churning them into useful applications. - Why you should start a startup and what it takes
JP Dela Torre (Development Director and Co-Founder, Pigmata Media Inc. and Pinoy Web Startup)
The Internet always have and always will evolve rapidly -- and we, web developers, have the technical ability to shape its future -- in the same way the web startups of yesterday helped the Internet become what it is now.
As co-founder of Pigmata Media Inc. and PinoyWebStartup.com, JP Dela Torre is a web developer turned entrepreneur. He started freelancing as a college student taking up BS Computer Science specializing in Software Engineering. He has been involved with projects for Chikka Asia, Nestle Philippines, and various US and UK-based businesses. A former Instructor at College of Saint Benilde and iACADEMY, he constantly imparts his knowledge of PHP and entrepreneurship to students, friends, and colleagues.
